YAHWEH
Repost (this facebook community spans many different time zones):
The Gnostics were always persecuted by the followers of the demiurge, nor has that persecution ceased. The most recent example is the genocide threatened by Islamists against the minority Yazidis in northern Iraq which I highlighted in this post last week:https://www.facebook.com/Author.GrahamHancock/posts/10152649253187354 . But the relevance of Gnostic thought to a clear understanding of current affairs runs far wider than that. Indeed in a world divided by fanatical beliefs in what "God" wants us to do, the Gnostic analysis of the human predicament seems ever more accurate and correct. I realise this is a controversial view but for those interested in learning more I highly recommend two books. The primary source on Gnostic thought is "The Nag Hammadi Library: The Definitive Translation of the Gnostic Scriptures in One Volume", Edited by James M. Robinson. An excellent and compelling secondary source is: "Not in His Image: Gnostic Vision, Sacred Ecology and the Future of Belief", by John Lamb Lash.
